How can I help old people?
I live in Los Angeles... winnetka near Sherman way. I am from India and came US just 4 months ago. I am 23 yrs old male. I have never been away from family... no even a single day. But for my study I have to leave my home, my parents n sister. I came to US. I feel very lonely beiing an alien in a new country, new people. I have a nature that I observe a lot. I have observed one thing here in California that old people are very lonely. I can now understand the emptiness of their life as I feel the same. My question is that I want to help old people by making them happy. How can I do that?... I sometimes wonder that should I go to some old age home and talk with people there.... a heartly talk n a visit like friends... I know how heart feels when a person is lonely. I wanna do something for old people so that my inner self is satisfied. Please suggest me ways. Please send me any link if anyone has. I wanna be a volunteer... I dont expect anything in return except a smile n a Thank u.

ONE xmas I went to a rest home for the older people and took footies for the ladies and a greeting card for the men you can go to the 99 store and find nice things like flower vases and flowers and make up a vase for about 20 people and they allso have the footies 4 for a dollar their feet does get cold i am sure. or just go and pick a certain amount of people you will visit each time go in and say hello to them maybe you can help pass them some fresh water, or find out from head nurse who can have sweets and bring them treats some times.

You can check out these sites as well as the local Community Center to see what Senior programs they may have.
